Remmie and I spend a week in Houston for the Via Colori Kick-Off and the Visual Arts Scholastic Event. Two 12 x 12 street paintings in 4 days is no small feat but it went very well and I think the images turned out great. The first, titled, "Sea Melody" was designed specifically for the Center of Hearing and Speech, which Via Colori, Houston benefits. I wanted to create something depicting the idea of creating & hearing sound or melody. The 10 x 12 piece was created on canvas and may be auctioned off at
the Via Colori Street Painting Festival next November.
For the Visual Arts Scholastic Event I had the idea of a mother nature /mother art type figure - painting the landscape with butterflies and flowers. While I created the center 11x11 foot image, the students of VASE were encouraged to help paint the border which wrapped around the outer edges with vines, blooms, birds, butterflies, & mushrooms. They did a fantastic job and really enjoyed helping create the finished piece which was later hung in the auditorium for the final awards ceremony.
