*Fact about 437 East 9th St.*

'437 East 9th St. is a legendary space in my mind... having changed over the years, to Upper Playground and Giant Robot now Dorian Grey Gallery. This originally was the space to a shop called SOMA NYC. SOMA partially a graff shop, art collectiables and gallery also the original home to ANIMAL Magazine » http://www.animalnewyork.com. I believe the shop closed in 2003-2004?... however was the first shop in New York to carry Molotow Belton paint. Leah from » Married To The Mob used to work there before starting MTTM, peace to all the success. I remember the van wacross the street that Free5 and Dsense always used to paint. I remember GHOST aka COUSIN FRANK having his solo show here, afterwards a fight that broke out in the street between some kids from uptown (unrelated to the show). There's alot more stories as well i'll have to save for another day. Other memories include the » The limited edition STAY HIGH 149 Weed Grinder... and the Seen, Ces and Quik book release was another classic event that happened at the space you can only find on ebay these days.

I passed by the space late in the afternoon by accident and all the work was hung and looks great. I highly suggest checking out Cope's solo show opening tonight running till June 24th 2012. A great addition to the timeline of history @ 437 East 9th St.'
Peace
